SHEIKH KHALID BIN MAHFOUZ: AN APOLOGY AND CORRECTION BY JIM RAREY AND SCOOP.CO.NZ

On 29 December 2002, Jim Rarey wrote and Scoop.co.nz published an article entitled "9/11 Commission Forgetta Boudit/ by Medium Rare" in which it was alleged that Sheikh Khalid bin Mahfouz was a supporter and funder of Osama bin Laden, bin Laden being his brother-in-law. It was further alleged that Delta Oil Limited is part owned by Sheikh Khalid bin Mahfouz.

Jim Rarey and Scoop.co.nz acknowledge that Sheikh Khalid bin Mahfouz, through his barristers, has denied all of those allegations which have been widely circulated on the Internet by other authors and organizations, most of whom have issued corrections (go to http://www.binmahfouz.info/news.html for an extensive listing of corrections issued to date).

Sheikh Mahfouz asserts that he and his family abhor terrorism in every way. We apologize to Sheikh Khalid for any distress and embarrassment we may have caused. Sheikh Khalid reports he has donated the substantial damages he received in relation to his successful actions against The Mail on Sunday newspaper and Michael Griffin/Pluto Books, to the charity UNICEF. Please visit the bin Mahfouz family website at www.binmahfouz.info for more information on the family.
